Dilapidated Revisited

I went back to the same old building where I took the image from yesterdays blog. My whole blog was about missed opportunities, so I thought I should try and get back into the building before it was gone or renovated. As soon as I got out of my vehicle I noticed that the windows had all been boarded up with plywood. Worse than that, I also noticed a bunch of construction vehicles parked around one end of the building. I had missed yet another opportunity, at least I had been in the building once and was able to get some very good images. I was hoping to get some more but I waited to long to go back. I really wanted to shoot in an abandoned building but I couldn't think of where any were that were close by. I decide to go to a nearby covered bridge and shoot it, while in route to the bridge I remembered an old factory that wasn't to far away. I have wanted to shoot it for a long time. Long story short I decided that I need to go and take some photographs of the factory before it was to late. Part of the factory burned a couple of years ago and another one of the buildings is decayed to the point that it is falling down. I knew that if I didn't get in there soon it would be to late. I had a short amount of time but I was able to get a some shots. It was very cold today, so the fact that I didn't have a lot of time didn't bother me to much. When I left the house it was -15 degrees with the wind chill. I dressed quite warm and I had fun. I haven't had a chance to download the images yet but as soon as I do I will upload something to share with you.

This image is the first image I took today, as you can see this building is in very bad shape. There is no way to save this building when the ceiling caved in it pushed the wall to the left side of the image over. The entire left side of the building has collapsed. I was nervous that the roof could collapse at any moment while we were in the building. It was very windy today and much of the wood is rotten, but as you can see from the image and the fact that I am writing this blog I survived. Believe it or not I only took about 8 or 9 images inside this building and the rest of the time I was shooting macro shots of water and ice on the ground and plants outside of the buildings. I was only in the property for about 30 minutes and have decided that I will return once it is warmer. There are many buildings and not all in as bad a condition as this one. If I get another opportunity to shoot at this property I will be sure to post some images for you to view and tell you about my experience.
