Shawnee State Park Snakes.

I have blogged in the past about Shawnee State Park, one of our favorite camping destinations. One of the reasons we like Shawnee so well is because of it Nature Center. We haven't camped in all of the Ohio State Parks but of those we have Shawnee has the best Naturalist and Nature Center. Jenny the Naturalist is great with the kids and they love her. Her knowledge of the natural world and her love for it is obvious from the first time you meet her. One of the reasons we like the Nature Center is because Jenny keeps it stocked with all different kinds of wildlife. At any given visit you may see as many as 10-12 snakes, lizards, turtles, toads, fish, bugs and any other thing that someone might find wandering through their campsite. My girls love to go and hold the snakes, so much so that now they are asking for a pet snake. I would allow it but I am afraid there mom won't. She is a bit of a fraidy cat, she also brings up the point that their food can be expensive and that is why I won't allow one in the house. If you ever get the urge to go on a drive, you may just want to take a ride to Shawnee State Park's Nature Center. If you go, look up Jenny and tell her I said hi.
