I'm back it took longer than I thought.

It is so hard to make time to sit in front of my computer and just write in this blog, there are so many other things that I like to do. It seems like every day brings a new challenge and today seems to have brought one of the biggest. I am not sure that I can pull it off but I am going to try. As I progress and things start to take shape, if it looks like it will work I'll blog about it but that's all I will say bout it for now. I often talk about things prematurely and when they don't work out people get disappointed. So let me tell you about something a little less exciting but still pretty cool to me. I have a gallery coming up real soon, it opens this week in Dayton. It will be at One Dayton Centre in downtown Dayton and it will be the most exposure that my work has ever had. I am praying that some of my pieces will sell, so that I can get some money saved up for my next missions trip. When I sell select pieces of my work, all of the profit goes into a fund to help pay for my missions work. So, if you happen to read this and you would want to take time to pray for me that would be great. My show will run throughout the month of October. I doubt that anybody ever reads this as I don't think too many people know about this blog. The only place I had a link to it was from my website, which is currently down for renovation. I hope to have a new site up soon, you can go to http://www.garyphillipsonline.com/ to check on my progress. If you go there any time soon what you see is probably not anything of mine. My web design team is supposed to have a message up that says something like "this site currently being remodelled check back soon for the new and improved http://www.garyphillipsonline.com/." But so far it just shows a generic template that is not what my site will look like. Hopefully you will soon see a new and improved site. Let me see if I can find a picture to post and maybe I will tell you the story behind it. Wait right there let me go look for an image, I'll be right back...........

O.K. so here is an image that I really like, I titled this one "Summer Days". This image of two little girls running onto a covered bridge is one of my favorites. It is actually two of my own daughters that I had out with me one day while I was shooting. They were so excited to visit this bridge that they just started running ahead of me. Of course being a photographer and these being my children I wanted to remember their excitement forever. So I started snapping off some shots and this particular frame is the one I most like of them. I am not sure exactly what it is that I like about this image over another but I really like feel of the image. I wanted to hang this in my home but I didn't really want just another photograph hanging up, I wanted it to feel more like a piece of artwork. I took the image into Photoshop and played around with it and this is how it turned out. I am really pleased with it now as a piece of art, not just another photograph. One of the things that I like about it is that it brings back memories of those carefree days of childhood. I hope if you are reading this, my image will bring back some good memories for you as well. I know that I will cherish this image for as long as I have breath.

I just feel like writing.

I feel like writing tonight so I am going to write. However, I have no idea what I should write about. So I have decided to just sit here and type whatever comes to mind until I think of something coherent to write about. So here goes. I have been reading a series of books that are very good. It is a series called the Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. Altogether there are about 11 or 12 books in the series. I am not sure exactly how I came across the books but I am glad I did. I find them very easy to read, though at times they get a bit repetitive but I can overlook this as they are very well written otherwise. I am currently on book 4 and still don't like to put the book down. I do however have to work so I must sleep at times. On November 1st ABC is airing a new series called "The Legend of the Seeker". It is a series based upon the books. You can go to http://www.legendoftheseeker.com/ to see the trailer for the series. It looks very well done as well. I also read somewhere on the web an article that was supposedly written by Terry Goodkind himself, where he says that he is involved in the making of the shows to be sure that they are as true to the books as possible. I hope it stays that way. I was so disappointed in the movie Eragon based on the books by Christopher Paolini. It was entertaining but they butchered the story in my opinion. Well I gotta go for now, I will try to find some time to write more later. My wife is waiting for me to take her to Wal-Mart.

I need to do this more often.

I shot this image while on a photo excursion with a very good friend of mine. This is the underside of an interstate overpass. We had been shooting most of the day, we had been to another bridge earlier in the day and I had tried to get a similar shot but could not achieve this effect. When we were on our way back to our campsite we went under these overpasses and I looked out and saw this image. I got excited and asked Earl who was driving to pull over so that I could get a shot. He couldn't figure out at first what I was doing as he was watching the road not the scenery. When he got under the overpasses with me he saw what I saw and we began shooting. It was a great ending to a great day of shooting. I hope you enjoy this image.
